A&A Legacy Care Services Request care

Accessibility statement

We build this site to be usable by everyone, and we want to hear about it when we fall short.

Our commitment

A&A Legacy Care Services serves older adults and adults with disabilities. A website that those people cannot use would be a contradiction. We treat accessibility as part of the service, not as a compliance chore.

Conformance target

This website is designed and built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We believe the site currently meets that standard. Conformance is a claim we keep testing rather than a badge we earned once.

What we have done

  • Colour contrast is verified, not estimatedEvery text and interface colour pair in the design system is checked against the WCAG contrast formula by a script that runs at build time. Body text exceeds 7:1. Nothing ships below the required ratio.
  • The whole site works by keyboardEvery link, button, menu, and form control is reachable and operable with the keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a clearly visible focus indicator on every one.
  • It works without JavaScriptNavigation, content, and forms degrade gracefully. Nothing essential is hidden behind a script.
  • Motion is minimal and respects your settingsThere is no autoplay, no parallax, no carousel, and nothing that moves while you are reading it. If your device asks for reduced motion, the page becomes completely static.
  • Text resizes without breakingThe layout holds together up to 200% browser zoom, and text reflows rather than being cut off or requiring sideways scrolling.
  • Structure is real, not visualHeadings, landmarks, lists, and labels are marked up properly so screen readers announce the page the way it looks.
  • Form errors are announced and explainedErrors appear in text next to the field, are linked to the input programmatically, and never rely on colour alone.
  • Images and icons are handled correctlyMeaningful images carry alt text. Decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology so they do not add noise.

Using your own settings

This site is built to work with the accessibility tools you already have, rather than asking you to configure a second set of controls here. It responds correctly to:

  • Browser zoom and text scaling up to 200%, without content being cut off or overlapping.
  • Reduced motion settings in Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. Turn it on and this site becomes entirely static.
  • Screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack, through correct headings, landmarks, labels, and alternative text.
  • Keyboard-only navigation, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
  • Browser reader modes, because the page structure is real rather than visual.

Known limitations

We would rather list these than let you discover them:

  • Documents we link to from third parties, such as government forms and clearance applications, are outside our control and may not meet the same standard. Tell us if one blocks you and we will provide the information another way.
  • Where a third-party form or spam-protection widget is added, it is tested for keyboard and screen reader use before it goes live, but its internal behaviour is not entirely ours to fix.

Assessment approach

The site is checked by a combination of automated contrast verification at build time, manual keyboard-only navigation of every page, testing at 200% zoom and at small screen widths, and review of the markup for correct semantic structure. We have not commissioned an independent third-party audit. If you believe one is warranted, tell us.

Tell us if something does not work

If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, contact us and we will fix it, and in the meantime we will give you the information or take your request another way.
